Honda Elise Oil pressure gauge/sender
Discussion
Ok, so I've gone and got myself oil pressure and oil temp gauges. The temp one should be easy to wire up with either a sump plug adaptor or drilling it into the sump. However the pressure gauge is proving to be difficult.
Firstly I don't think there is physically enough space for a sandwich plate on the Link Up Honda's and Eliseparts don't do anything that would help (Although Geary was super helpful) I bought the gauges from EliseShop here:

He says he mounted his by removing the oil pressure switch on the block and putting a ss braided cable in it's place with a t-piece on the end. Then put the original pressure switch in one side, and the new sender in the other, however he doesn't sell the parts for this himself. This seems to be the recommended way and I've found a few posts on it here:

So, my question is. Where in the midlands (Leicester) can I get all the bits required or is there someone reputable that can do it for me? I've had a look at Demon Tweeks and they sell various bits and bobs but I'm not confident on getting the right bits. Also the only cable they sell comes in 4ft lenghs if you want it pre-made and that seems way too long. Any suggestions would be great - Thanks.

If I were you, I'd ask one of the link-up installers to supply all the parts. That way, if you have a go at it yourself and find you can't do it, you can still take it to a link-up installer along with the parts they've supplied and get it done.

I did ask one of them (The same guys that do most of the work on my car) and they've not done it before but were really good in terms of saying they'll fit all the bits for me if I supply them. They did point me towards Eliseparts but unfortunately they don't do them. My car is in at them a week Monday for bits and pieces so was hoping to get any bits before them to hand them to fit.

question,do you have the optional HD oil cooler fitted?

Nope I don't have the oil cooler fitted. Are you going to make me spend more money?
not unless you want to?
Just trying to establish what we are looking at.
easiest route is to remove the oil pressure switch (just above the filter) and either:
1) fit a short flexible hose to the gauge sender (never mount a pressure sender directly to the engine, they don't respond well to the vibrations).
the only issue here is that you will loose the oil light, however, SPA gauges and the like have their own light and can output to the dash one (the level is pre-set on the gauge)
2) if you want to retain the oil light via switch, use a 'T' piece into the engine, then the switch on the back of it, and flexible from there to the sender.

Cheers Simon, thats exactly what I want (with the t-piece to retain the original pressure switch too) Do you have any suggestions as the best place to buy all the bits so that garage can install them. Unfortunately they've never done one before so don't have the bits but since the car is in for odds and ends in a week or two with them I'd like them to do it at the same time - Thanks - Daniel
