Is your battery likely to be very low? this causes revving and stalling as you've described, it probably needs replacement.

Only ever used bridgestone tyres so cannot comment.

Hi, stick to your Bridgestones, manufacturers put them on for a reason. Don't play with cheap tyres, I put low/mid range tyres on a Landrover, not similar handling I know but it landed my husband in the back of a Mondeo with my son in the car, smooth surface just didn't grip, changed them straight away for decent tyres so cost me more in the long run. If money is an issue buy value brand food for a month as this won't kill you but cheap tyres could!

have you put some poor quality fuel in it? that causes mine to run badly and cut out

change all 4 tyres for Yoko Advan AD07's, the thing with tyres (and brakes) is that they can be the only thing stopping you having an accident in an emergency

AD07's by far the best tyre for the 111R !!!

Bridgestone's (the model for the Elise) are far harder compound, will last longer but not as much grip.

Common problem. Grab you manual and look up resetting the TPS (throttle position sensor), do that and it should cure it - if not it may be on an early firmware in the ECU, as I think there was a later version that fixed a few issues with cold idle - although mine will still sometimes let the revs go through the floor if you go to move, but then don't end up moving more than a foot (sometimes happens in queues), you have to be quick to catch it.

If you're going to change to AD07s, then it's best to do both front and rear - that's the reason I've just done rears only on mine, as the fronts were still okay for a bit longer yet. Next time they'll be getting AD07s.

Good advice. When I bought my Elise I changed the rear Bridgestones to AD07s, but left the front Bridgestones on as they had plenty of tread. The car was very understeery and when I changed the fronts to AD07s a few months later it absolutely transformed the car.

I wish I'd just changed all four tyres at once.
