Hi all

I've been reading some road tests on the £3000 performance pack upgrade that takes the latest exige S' power up to 240bhp. The upgrade sounds like its a no brainer if your specing a new car but I am looking at perhaps buying a 2007 spec car. Therefore could the performance pack upgrade be retrofitted to earlier models and can you tell me exactly what the performance pack consists of?

Thanks

Have a look on the Lotus web site, under Tech specs, Option packs for the Exige S it shows you what you get. Probably a company like Plans Motorsport will fit the bits for you.

Edit: It would probably cost an arm and a leg to retrofit the uprated clutch bits and I don't know why you'd bother with launch and traction controls.

Edit2: Lotus are currently chucking in the performance pack at no cost on new Exiges so while the 2007 might be much cheaper it might be worth doing your sums on how much the retrofit would add to the cost if you really want the whole package (and you can live with the new styling).

I could live without the launch and variable traction control and the AP brake upgrade would be a fairly easy upgrade that could be done in the future. I guess the real question is what's involved to get the extra power gains (+20bhp)? Is it a completely different supercharger and what other parts are used?

nope - and there are a number of aftermarket upgrades now available, with warranty, taht will take it to 260-280bhp...so plenty of options - even if you buy a cheaper NA Exige

Could you point me in the direction of a few companies that offer performance upgrades that won't void the warranty? I looked at hanger 111 but they seem to offer turbocharger conversions. I'd rather keep the car supercharged

what I mean is, the upgrades have their own warranty - of course any engine upgrade will void the factory one

so wouldnt bother about buying a car in warranty - they are quite simple cars to be honest and reliable

if I was buying again right now, Id just buy the cheapest and mod the crap out of it smile

It's not quite as easy to fit braided hoses to the S2 Exige as it is to the Elise, usually it's a front clam off job. The backs are no problem.

The only real benefit that i can see is if you plan on getting even more power out of the car the uprated clutch etc are a big help plus the front brakes but for straightline performance your going to be a bit dissapointed as theres no difference between the 220 and 240 alongside each other which i was quite suprised about.
