only 3 more days before i pick up my new elise. as part of the deal i have got them to put a new stage 2 exhaust on. will it make a huge difference if i decat it as well?

When i had my S1, i did the exhaust, decat, throttle body and induction all at the same time which transformed the car but obviously couldn't tell how much was down to the decat.

When I decatted my NA Exige it made it a bit deeper and a fwe more pops and bangs but that was it. PITA really putting it back on for MOT. Now I run with a CAT and save the effort. Not worth it IMHO.

Not much point when your Stage 2 will be loud.

You won't get any performance gain without an ECU remap.

Agreed _ my stage II averaged 105 dB and peaked at 107dB + it was 'boomy' at lower speeds.

Edited to say: therefore do not decat; perhaps consider induction instead

I'd stick without the de-cat. I had a stage 2 on my Exige for a while (until I got the larini) and it was certainly boomy even at low speeds!

Run with it for a while until you get used to it, then choose if youw ant a different sound and, of course, when or if youd o change you will be able to tell the difference!

Stage 2 will get you kicked off most circuits.

I have run my Exige S2 n/a with stage 2 exhaust at Snetterton, Brands and even Bedford autodrome without breaking db limits. ( Bedford was very marginal though, i think the windy day helped )

Andy, join LoT http://www.lotus-on-track.com/ and you'll find most of the tracks in France are pretty relaxed about noise limits or dont have any,i've been over four times in the last six months to Abbeville,Folembray and Ferte Gaucher without issues thumbup

Good excuse for a little jaunt too biggrin
