My 02 Elise has the alarm where you hold the round button on the key for around 2 seconds, 2 flashes of the indicators and its armed. Press the key again, 1 flash of the indicators, and its disarmed.

Question - every so often, maybe once every 20 times or so, it gives a couple of audible bleeps to accompany the flashes when arming, same 1 bleep when disarming.

Anyone know how/why or when it does the audible bleeps?

Sorry if its a numpty question !! biggrin

Thanks in advance

I never use the round one, i always use the oval shaped one on the left. Press once to arm, beep beep locked and armed.. press again beep once disarmed. If ive left it unlocked too long (imobiliser kicked in) press it once, one beep to disarm imobiliser press again 2 beeps locked.

ive never known what that round one is for.

We must have different keys, mines only got the one large round button for the alarm (no central locking on mine)

I only ever use the oval button (02 Elise - Cobra Alarm), I think the round button is used during servicing to prevent the immobiliser kicking in.

Every now and then (1 in 30-40 times) the alarm beeps trip over themselves and don't sound right, but it doesn't seem to impact anything.

AFAIK the round button is used to disable the movement sensor. You arm the alarm as usual, with the big oval button, then press the small button, so that only opening doors etc will trigger it.
