Sorry - I am sure this has been done to death before, but search as I might I can't find a post on this.

My service book suggests AABAAC etc

now I know that this is too long to leave the cambelt and to date, I have gone AABCA - but what's next? A or B?

As far as I am aware it is A B A C , so the belt is every 4th service. B is basically the same as an A but with a belt inspection.

AABAACAABAAC...Etc.
The cambelt change is no longer part of the C service and should be done every 48k miles or four years whichever is sooner.

Yeah, that.

Although given that other cars powered by the K-series don't require a belt change every 4 years, it's probably a bit OTT really.

Replacing the belt is much cheaper than sorting out the damage from a snapped belt!

True. smile

Although it's belts, plural, on a VVC which makes it a bit more expensive.

So is there really any difference between having a "B service with a cambelt change" versus a C service? My suspicion is that if you requested the former at a garage, wouldn't they just say you need the latter?

On the AABAAC schedule I'm due a B, but it has been 4 years since a cambelt change.

Thanks.

Thanks

Does anyone else thin that effectively having 3 years between spark plug and air filter changes is a bit excessive?

You mean excessively frequent, or excessively rare? smile

Seems about right to me.

excessively rare - given that a paper filter won't break the bank!
