I dont think they come in a narrow enough front size ...so same disadvantages as A048 ...unless its a track only car and you are looking for that last few secs a lap, no point really anyway

Not a problem on an S1 111S as Lotus specify a 195 Yoko Advan Neovo as a replacement for the P zeros. However for the S2 Lotus don't recommend the 195Yoko OA48 on the Standard S2 (skinny) rims so the same would apply to 888s. I don't know if peeps do fit them though and I'd have thought you'd be at the limit. When I had 195s on my standard front S1 wheels they looked a bit doughnutty (iyswim); the tyres look much more comfortable on the 0.5 inch wider wheels I have now. I don't think I'd want to put 195s on the standard S2 front wheel and would look at another set of wheels first (Hanger 111 have some reasonable priced jobbies from Team Dynamics).

I think so the S1 111s had 185/55 on the front and 225/45 0n the rear so r888, 195 on the front and 225 on the back? they fitted my S1 with no probs

Tinkerbell has an S2?? AD07 would be the best bet (so I'm told!).
If its an S1 then the 195s will go on the front but to be honest I wouldn't bother with 888s unless he's doing a lot of trackwork (you could never use their grip on the road). Advan Neovo or Toyo T1-R would be my choice.

As above. Keep the Advans. 888's are not worth it unless he's doing trackdays and wants maximum grip. Plus if he hasn't got uprated toe-links it's not a good idea to fit them.

What's the craic with S2 Exiges which IIRC have standard toe-links but come equipped from the factory with A048Rs then?

Even Scuffers doesn't rant about uprated toe-links except for racing, and the last thread I asked about this on seemed to conclude that you can check for toe-link wear just by periodically jacking it up and wiggling the wheel around. Even so, I've been told that you can 'feel' it when loading the car up in a fast corner.

I can't really comment with regards the S2 Exige. I know that Lotus specify uprating the toelinks on the S1 Elise/Exige for Motorsport/Heavy track use and I've fitted a set to my car as I'm running 888s for Sprints.
I think the answer is probably that if you're not riding kerbs etc then not a problem. However, I'd think about the cost of the uprated links vs cost of possible damage repair if you did get a failure. Might be worth giving Lotus Sport a ring.

I run 22 front and 24 rear on S2 Elise with Team Dynamics alloys.
