If you don't have the button I'd suggest that you don't have tc. Note, it was standard with the Sports pack.
What were the symptoms that made you think you had TC: did the engine stutter/cut out as the rear was oversteering or did you just get a stutter from the engine?

On yota elises and exiges a basic traction control system was an option... or possibly part of the sport/supersport packs. Not sure whether you get an on/off button tho.
The 211 (and possibly newer s/charged exiges) have a variablke rate traction control system... which the driver can fine tune to their own driving style.
From what I saw at Goodwood a few weeks back... the variable t/c didn;t seem to be providing drivers with significant help... the 211s looks slow off the line

Out of interest, how do you know that the drivers had it switched on - in my limited experience both Lotus systems are pretty good. They are designed to allow a little slip/involvement...

It was the Goodwood Easter sprint.... I've no idea if it was switched on or off... or to which of the numerous settings you could choose they had it set too.
I saw half a dozen 211 starts.... and most were slower over first 50 yards or so than machines one would have assumed were much less geared to the task. So I figured one of two things:
If they had the TC on.... then they should have been able to get away faster without it!
If they had it off... they've already decided it wasn't necessary and could have saved themselves a grand by de-specing the TC.
One other thing sprang to mind.... unless you want to spend a whole day testing different settings for your start on an airfield (and buy a new clutch and a couple of sets of rear 48s during the day).... you'll probably not get to work out which is the best variabkle setting for sprint starts anyway.
Clearly this is all pretty circumstantial ... but it makes sense to me

You sure the light is the TC light - what does the latest manual say? If so, them you've probably missed the small button to disable it. - a small black button to the right of the gearlever - I think you depress for 3 seconds to disable it.
I don't recall there being a TC light in the TC enabled car I drove - maybe you noticed a different light like the change up one as the wheels spun and the revs increased....

The flickering tell tale light you mention is indeed the one for traction control - and i believe you normally get the little tc "off" switch on the gear lever shroud. I suppose it's not beyond the realms of possibility for a car to have TC and yet the lads on the production line "omitted" to fit the tc off switch??? 
I've got the sport pack on my car and it does come with tc.
As Dom said there is a small button to the right of the 'transmission' tunnel which you need to hold down for 3 secs to disable.
The yellow light on the dash does come on when its triggered or stays on when you disable the system.
I *think* it was a £300 option on non-sport pack cars?

nope no button at all. i remember asking Ben when i went for a test drive as i wasn't sure what the central locking buttn was for then thinking that was for tc and he stated that it didn't have it.
it didnt come on to day so might have to find a quiet bit of road tomorrow and try a quick launch to see if that will activate it.
