I am looking to part x my 98 elise for and exige, now I have found 2 that I really like, the first is an exige S, 06 plate with a Janspeed exhaust which I believe is somewhere around 220 BHP, the second is a normally aspirated exige on a 54 plate but has piper cams and a few other bits and pieces which give it 260 BHP, I am guessing the 54 plate one still needs the higher revs to get the horses as all the normally aspiated ones do, but am interested in your opinion.
Thanks

your elise is better than either car but sell it and wait for the euro bubble to burst then buy an exige....

Are you sure you have those horsepower figures correct? 260hp from the 1zz with a cam change sounds impressive.

A 260bhp N/A must have a bit more than some cams.

Are you sure it's not supercharged?

260bhp N/A 'yota engine? I don't think so... not without a LOT of cash being thrown at it... I'd say that the Toyota engine is as expensive to get power out of as a RoverK... and about as reliable.

As I said, it has Piper cams and "other" stuff done (ECU etc etc) to it. It has been dyno'd and has 260.

So, back to my original question. Which one?

I see that you have had a 111R before so you know the character of the car etc etc.

Even tho I love the N/A's character, With the choice of these two I would be going with the more standard S version.

Plus 2006 car as you probably know has upgraded pedal box etc etc. Plus you have the Noble for the power side of things.

ALL IMO, I am not that up on engine tuning !

One of the things we really did not like about the newer car was how nasty the gearchange linkage was compared to the older one, it was fine going into gear but so noisy on the linkage

Not heard that problem before, might be just the example rather than 06 model car Vs 04 model car.

Not aware of any changes to the box between the two either.

But maybe its a different box on the S - Need some technical backup on this point - Anyone?

Errr. Unless the other stuff includes some kind of forced induction then the dyno tells lies.

yes

Would assume that it is an N/A car that has been converted to S/C or turbo. There is no way that 260 bhp is achievable with minor mods. In fact, 200 would be a stretch.

260BHP on a 54 plate sounds very much like a S/C converted car. Is it by any chance a red Exige?

Anyhow, comparing the two is very difficult, given the 54 plate one is pretty much an unknown factor at this point. As others have said - there's no way a NA Exige will get anywhere close to 260bhp. The assumption here is that it has indeed been converted with a supercharger.

I'd highly recommend doing a search on Seloc for Elite before going much further.

I have had a look at the Seloc site as suggested and have posted a reply that you may consider reading, perhaps it may redress the balance a bit.

Done so, cheers. If you're happy with the service you've received from them, go for it, its your choice. Everything else is just secondhand information. I just thought it wise to make you aware of other people's experience.
