I love my Elise but the lack of padding is becoming a pain, the only thing I’ve owned that’s more uncomfortable is my old Honda Africa twin…

Anyway I’m thinking about having my seats re-trimmed and extra padding, but have read other owners use VX220 seats ! there is a set on ebay at the moment, bidding £30 … I’m looking for advise on which to use as a donor seat ? This time it won't be in leather either, a little drive the other day in the sun and the seats became a sweet bath…. Hmm nice…

Cheers
M.

I have seen a couple of people fitting S2 Seats, and these really the business i.e.Probax.

3 days and 1500 miles later and back still ok ! Rest of the body was dead, but not from the seats LOL

I've got VX220 cloth seats in my S1 - much more comfortable than the original leather items. Did 3500 miles in 10 days across the alps in a VXT last year and no back problems atall.

just remember that the VX220 seats have different seat runners, Same fixing points on the chassis, but slightly different fixing points for runner to seat base.

I would definitly recommend probax seats. Just had my seats retrimmed with probax and they are just soooo much more comfortable - even the wife likes them, so must be okay!

Any chance of a rough idea of cost?

Looking at between 220 - 300 a seat depending on material. You can send the seats off via Dealers, direct with Factory or with http://www.hangar111.com/ckshop.php?category=71

As far as I know !

Think people seem to get seats back in around 3-6 weeks, So I understand....

I paid £700 for the pair, retrimmed in red & black leather with probax padding and logo in the headrest, which might seem a bit steep but I'm delighted with them. I had them done via Bell & Colvill who send them onto to Lotus. Downside was they took 10 weeks cos it took Lotus three tries to get them right. But B&C did give me donor seats whilst mine were being done.

Your standard seats will be fine as donor seats. Lotus trim shop does a great job and the prices aren't outrageous. You have to go through a dealer but can spec the finish and padding (Probax) as you want - If you insist on pink, blue and yellow they'll do it!
I've a set of 111S seats in my S1 (I bought a complete newly retrimmed interior) and they are more comfy thatn the originals but still work OK on track. At some point I may fit something like the Tilletts but really want to try one over a distance to see how I get on with it.

Here's a pic of them - nice eh? I also had new matching door inserts made, but don't think I'll use them as it will be "too much" red. So if anyone interested in a pair of new scarlet red perforated leather inserts (S2 electric windows), then let me know before they go on ebay.

There worth every pound!
