BoLOCs to Goodwood FOS - Next Friday?
Discussion
CORRECION: This is for FRIDAY 3rd JULY (currently 2 weeks away)
Not sure how many of you may have benefitted from my post about FREE tickets @ www.timesonline.co.uk for the Friday at Goodwood 2 weeks time but it appears those of you that may have reacted quickly were successful.
There are quite a few of my BoLOCs and petrolhead friends that got tickets and are planning on going. I'm going to check the timing of events and plan to get there early taking the motorway for most of it and then ducking via the back roads from Havant (traffic can be bad via the A27 route if you leave it too late)
Anyway, any others interested in a convoy from Poole/Bournemouth let youselves be known. If you don't have tickets but are interested I may (just may) be able to help.
Cheers

i need a ticket :-( ... just one... anyone? anyone?
:-(
I can be your saviour :-(
but you'll have to join the early-doors convoy to get the ticket. Always worth getting the wife to apply too to double your chances

Have I just labelled myself an idiot too?

Just assessing the right time to depart. Tyyping out loud!
Action starts at 0845. Gates open at 0700. Car Parking opens at 0630.
I'm suggesting an 0600 start from Bournemouth, hoping to arrive around 0715-0745? Google maps is suggesting a 1hr50min trip. I think that is slightly excessive as I know it takes me about an hour to get to Funtington, which is approximately 10 minutes away on normal days. However allowing for traffic both commuter and event) I think 1hr30 is a reasonable estimate.
Plan is to pick up my chum in Earle Road, swing past M & M in Alumhurst Road, Westover Road anyone?, Perhaps a swoop down at Cooper Dean roundabout for another chum, Ringwood swoop down anyone? brief pause at Rownhams pertol station for any refuellers and New Foresters (V.I.?) circa 0630 then motorway to Havant, known back roads (but not the FatWomble twisty ones) to Goodwood. I think we discovered that although fun, the FW HamLOC route delayed us quite considerably for the breakfast club arrival the other week.
What's the general opinion? If it's too early for some, no bother but the traffic can be horrendous if you mix in with the south coast commuters and have to deal with the event traffic
N.B. I personally plan to leave mid afternoon (3-4pm) to miss the evening commuter rush too at Porstmouth, Southampton and the Friday Forest dash!
Useful tip: If you don't want to buy a programme, bring an FM radio device so you can tune into the event coverage. It's useful to keep abreast of what's happening and perhaps who's driving what, when!
Those that want to convoy, name and rendezvous location below. cheers
