After picking up my '52 S2 111S last weekend and realising it was dumping all the coolant on the way home, the radiator has been changed FOC under the mechanical warranty it came with ... The temperatures are 86-88C moving, 92-97C when crawling and 100-105C in traffic on a warm day like today. The fan kicks in at 102C.

Being a S1 owner for two years and never seeing the temp rise above 91C (It used to sit at 83C constantly!) I was a bit worried! eek I've seen on SELOC that these are standard temperatures and nothing to be concerned about, especially when it comes to head gasket failure.

Anyway, it seems when the fans do kick in there is a horrible grinding noise on one side frown I'm guessing the bearings in one of the fans has gone. The noise is also apparent when I turn on the aircon, which utilises the cooling fans under the radiator.

If the fans are changed, is this an expensive job i.e clam off? Do you think this would be covered under the mechanical warranty, therefore I don't have to pay anything?

Cheers for any info! smile
