What I would like to know is how long oil in Toyota engined cars (esp 111R) takes to get to temp?

Will get a guage but wont be for a while!!!

Have searched but answers vary alot, so would be great if people with oil temp guages can give me more reliable info?

ie.

For average summer what aprox mileage do you hit say 60 deg, 70 deg, 80 deg and 90 deg (assume this is full operating temp)?

Also for winter?

PS. Handbook says over filling oil means it can get aeriated and not work as it should, but how much is too much (currently about 1/2 cm OVER full mark)???

Cheers all.

Hi,

Does your 111r not have a digital gauge on the instrument binnacle (under the rev counter)?

In my experience it tends to take about 10 - 15 to get to its normal operating range (about 80-90).

The 111r has a clever 2moving redline" so it doesn't let you go about about 5000 rpm unitl the engine is warm (having said this, I have noticed it does tend to allow you to the actual red line when its "only" about 70 +.

Hope this helps

It takes quite a while for the oil to get upto temperature, Fitting oil pressure and temperature guages was the first thing I did to my S2 Exige.
Water temp reaches the 90 degree mark about ten minutes after starting and trundling along.
Oil temp takes about another ten minutes to reach 70 degrees, I have not seen the Oil temp go over 80.
