How do I drain the system?
Refil the system?
Anything to watch out for?
Thanks Phil

There is another way - purge the system.

Turn the engine on and you will see the small hose connected to the top of the reservoir, which pumps the coolant back.

Remove this and let the coolant get pumped into a bucket as you keep the reservoir topped up with new, fresh coolant. Put about 6 litres in, all is swell.

Having said that, there is an argument that the Elise stores quite a bit of coolant in the rad and this is not released until the thermostat opens....which it will not on a cool engine.

FreeRange7.

Everyone has been so polite but you'll find most answers you need (and some you have yet to dream up questions about) over in the SELOC TechWiki that Ganglandboss keeps pointing you at.

Enjoy.

I will get an oil filter and some Mobil 1 0w/40 and sort it out.

Sort out the coolant just to make sure.
