Hello, Does anyone know how the rear plates are stuck on an exige S2? And more to the point how to get it off without damaging the paint??
Thanks

My one was held on a metal bracket by pads, so it really is just a case of pulling hard.

However, the pads are sometimes so bloody good that it wont come off and so a quick tip is to get some fishing line (or similar) and run it round the back of the plate thumbup

I don't have an Exige. The Lizzie's plates are stuck on to the clam with sticky pads. The fishing line trick sounds like a good idea provided you pad up your fingers, otherwise your front drive is going to look like a scene out of Monty Python and The Holy Grail!

I take it you have an early (S1) elise, then? On the latter Elise and then the S2 Exige there were metal like rear diffusers which the number plate rested on, rather than the actual tub itself.

Ah ha, here's a picture of my old Exige, you can see it's on a different piece to the body (identical to S2 Elise also).

Hi, I had to do this a couple of weeks ago. I bought something from ebay called "Sticky Stuff Remover" - actual name! for £3.99. This is safe to use on paintwork and non-corrosive. Squeeze some behind the numberplate, which is easy enough on the front as half of it isn't stuck down and can trickle down onto the sticky pads and same on the on the back too (I pulled the corners with one hand as much as I could and poured some in). Leave it for 15mins or so and literally start pulling off the plates. Half should peel off and so repeat squeezing some more onto the rest of the sticky pad areas still stuck on. Then rinse the diffuser clean with water as it's near the exhaust to be on the safe side. Dry and reapply new plates with new pads...

I just removed both of mine and what a mission! Both plates were covered in adhesive pads, I tried, WD40, white spirit and finally "Goo Gone" in the end I wrenched the plates off and picked the remaining pads off the car over 4 evenings with my finger nails....enjoy!
