Hi all,

Firstly, this probably isn't the first time that these flippin little things have come up on this forum so my apologies for bringing it up again....

I've got an '05 K series 111s without aircon and I'm in the process (I've got black hands as I type this!!) of changing the resistor pack like for like ie not installing the modified location part. The easy bits are done but I'm having real difficulty in seperating the heater box from the blower, I've unclipped it and given them a lot of wiggling but the two still won't part and I'm fearfull of breaking something should I try harder, I've tried disconecting a hose or two but they're being stubborn as well

I've had a look through wiki but I'd be massively greatfull for any assistance on this!

Many thanks in advance!

The box is joined in the middle. It is 2 parts. The adhesive that holds the components together is double sided tape and quite strong. You have to work it in order to seperate. move the clutch hydraulic pipe to gain better access (You will have to bleed the clutch from the engine).

Thanks for that Gooby. Looks like patience and a little ingenuity are in order, won't be able to get back on the job again until early next week so will have time to mentally prepare...

Dont give up, it WILL come out eventualy even though it looks impossible.

Also if you have been a bit tight and bought the O/M part then consider
water proofing it before you put it back.

Yeah, I know I've been a cheapskate wink

I've got a can of Dampstart from the days of working on my first old banger with a dizi cap and points, will be using that and a liberal covering of grease or suchlike, depending on how it's mounted I may consider some kind of latex glove sock type of arrangement.

Now, where did I leave my patience...?

Forgot to ask! Does the foam/adhesive/whatever it is that joins the two parts need to be replaced when I re-install it all? And, if so, is this a Lotus sourced part?

Its while back now when I did mine (just looked through my photos on the S2Ki
link) I dont think the foam has addesive on both sides, just the one.

As you can see the terminals can get hot! So is latex a good idea? Not sure tbh.

I would smear the terminals in Vaselene/petrolium jelly type stuff wink (honest)

I did mine with the upgrade kit so a new mounting plate is between the two halves of the unit and the resistor pack is mounted on the dividing plate. This plate also comes with a large amount of double sided tape. If you have gone for the original option ( not sure it is possible to source the original) the just use halfrauds double sided tape.

My original plan was to use the original kit (same as you but I couldn't source it) the extend the loom to the resistor pack and relocate it to the top of the blower unit out of the water etc.

Was thinking of extending the wiring if I could, was going to see how it all came about first. Hopefully I shall see on Tuesday! yes

It is very simple. the resistor pack sits in a puddle.
