sorry to ask a question that has probably been asked 1000 times . . . ive got to replace my discs and pads, im pretty sure ill go for yellow stuff pads (herd some good reviews) but i would like some advice on discs. i cant afford big big bucks but dont want to put cheap crap on either - any ideas of half way discs or just general advice as to a good set up would be great!

Mainly FAST road use and potentially some track at some point??

thanks guys and girls

I've recently put EBC Plain disks on my S1 111S, before that I had their grooved and dimpled disks. I'm no expert and this is just from my own experience but I find the plain disks have a better feel to them than the grooved ones. Some people will tell you the grooved are better as they're supposed to stop the pad glazing over etc etc.

I was in a similar predicament a few months ago. I ended up going with yellowstuffs, some s/h barely use rears which I had skimmed and some EP ali bells at the front. The ali bells are an unnecessary luxury but they are very cool.

For a little less cash the EBC turbo grooves seem to get some good reviews.

Try JRT Auotmotive for the pads by the way, I found they were the cheapest.

Don't forget to change the fluid at the same time and make sure you bed the pads.

I can probably help you with some good low cost used options.

I'm in the process of changing our entire Lotus track fleet and some of the race cars we support to a brand new Performance Friction set up which we've now tested and are happy that the PF disc and pad combination is better than anything we've run with before. The set up is on the 2-Eleven that won the Le Mans round of Lotus Cup Europe as well as a number of other including the ex Dubai 24 hour Lotus 2-Eleven GT4. We've also got them on a couple of the front running Elise Trophy cars.

Anyway - to the point, I'll have a few sets of 6-9 month old discs & bells either AP or Eliseparts available which will be very cheap on the basis that someone collects from our new track & race service centre in Kimbolton (next to Eliseparts.com

We will probably be having an open day at some point before Christmas if anyone fancies a bit of a winter run out \ geo check etc at the same time let us know.

I'd be interested in a set of those.

What should I do? E-mail you?

yes drop me a note. As I've said I don't want to get involved in packaging up and shipping this stuff and I want people to closely inspect what they are getting and make a reasonable offer. We'll fit them for a small charge if required.

If you need pads at the same time we carry a full range of Performance Friction (track and race), Pagid (track and road) and Mintex (track and road).

on my old sport 160 i used jrt automotive and bought ebc drilled/grooved discs with mintex pads... absolutely fine for fast road work... if you are going on track then pagids are the way ahead.
