A mate of mine told me Lidl/Aldi sometimes do a good oneconfused I had a look last weekend- no joy! any advice would be welcome.

I've got one of these: I suppose it's the one above's Big Brother.

It's connected all the time the car is in the garage (on a timer for a couple of hours a day), and I haven't had to change the battery yet. That's 3 years!

Ditto above.

If you want an even gentler model which was developed to cope with extremely fragile motorcycle electrics, there is the Optimate.

Same as Accumate, just charges at a slower rate. Both are 100% fine. I had the Optimate wired to my Elise while abroad for a year....car started first crank.

It compensates for the alarm , too....and switches itself off when the battery is charged.

You can't have a non daily driven Elise without one!!

I've been happy with my CTEK 3600, similar idea to the Optimate.

I bought one from Halfords for about £20, recharges and conditions (in one handy bottle)!

But I noticed MachineMart do one for £9 - identical to the original conditioner I had from Halfords that mysteriously stopped working after 7 years...

The battery on my Elise is nearly 6 years old and hasn't shown any signs of being discharged. The car is plugged into a Halfords maintenence charger when it is in the garage. This charges the battery up when needed and then switches itself to a trickle charge once it is fully charged.
