Does anyone here have experience with targetcars in the Netherlands? They always have some UK Elises and other rarities on stock but I wonder if they're reliable as a seller.

I'm currently looking at this car; http://www.targetweb.nl/shop/article.asp?article=3... They're situated in Eindhoven where I live so taking a look shouldn't be a problem.

I live in the Netherlands and I was in the market for an Elise a while back. I've never even visited them though.

From what i've heard they mostly buy and sell cars that were previously damaged. But occasionaly they do have nice honest straight cars. Keep in mind that it's a wholesale company, so buy it if you want it, dont bother them with questions and the cars are sold as seen...

BTW the link you supplied doesn't work, so it's just guessing what car you mean.

I ended up buying a 2004 20k miles 111R straight from the private owner in England.

Thanks for the answer. Do you know of any reliable way to find out if a Lotus is still straight? Damage to bodywork isn't really an issue as these parts can be repaired or replaced with new ones.

Here's the correct link;

I think I'm going to give them a call and see what they're up to. A testdrive should be possible.

Hi Tomasz,

If possible try and find out what the UK registraion on the car was (licence plate) than do a HPI-check on it. This check will point out if the car was previously damaged (Cat A/B/C/D)

Reparing a lotus chassis is possible, but lotus does not support it...

This looks like a nice car, low mileage and a good price.

I think testdives are possible only if you commit to buying the car. This is truely a cash and carry business. Inspect it and if you like it splash the cash and buy it.

Have a look at the points where the wishbones connect to the chassis, these should look fresh and straight. also the bottom of the car should be completely flat, no dents ect.

I sold an S2 Elise to Target a couple of years back. Spot on to deal with, they bought it from an eBay advert.

Seemed like monopoly though, they turned up, paid full asking and didnt drive or even look at my car, just stuck it on a transporter. The guy was driving all over the UK picking up elises/tvrs/kitcars.

Just to bump this topic.

I visited the company twice. One to see what they have, 2nd time to give my GF a round in a S2 Elise.

They buy anything, cat b,c,d. Most cars there have had damage on clams or chasis damage.
The S2 that we got a round in smelt very very sweet from the exhaust, burning coolant.

It's better to visit the UK and buy yourself a proper car. Cheaper and a better car.

However if you want to do a quick sell, just call them, money is money. Doesnt mather where it comes from.

I kept an eye on their stock for a while when I was looking for my Elise.

There have been a number of Elises sold on Ebay in the UK, some which were described as crash repaired and others that were admitted to only when I rang up, that later appeared on Target's website without any such mentions. Buyer beware!
