Paint problems
Discussion
Hi All
I have a 54 plate exige, only bought a couple of months ago, has anyone else had a paintwork problem where the paint looks as though its blistering. Mine has what looks like a rash across the 6 inches directly below the drivers and passengers windows. Its too dark to check the rest of the car until tomorrow.

Lots of us have! Just do a search - plenty about this on Seloc. Mine needed two lots of warranty work to sort out - but all ok now I have a 54 plate exige, only bought a couple of months ago, has anyone else had a paintwork problem where the paint looks as though its blistering. I've got exactly the same issue on a 55 plate 111s, Lotus weren't interested as it's an 'old' car out of the 1 year paintwork warranty.
They fixed mine out of warranty...... does them no favours to have a car of this age look bad !It would put me off buying another Elise or Exige, as even newer versions seem to have the same problem and Lotus didn't seem to care.
A typical corporate response, ie we don't give a f**k
"Thank you for your email.
After reading your email I can inform you that your Lotus is out of manufactures warranty and therefore we would not be able to cover this claim under Lotus warranty.
At the date of registration your Lotus would have been sold with a 2 year warranty which includes the paint and body.
Also as you have purchased a used Lotus, the paintwork history maybe unknown as your Lotus could have had a previous repair.
I am sorry if this is not the answer you were hoping for."

I had to make a donation but I think £200 was a bit of a bargain, we had quotes elsewhere for around £800, so all in all I cant complain.
They are sorting out a couple of other bits, an after market HID light that has gone wrong which was fitted by the previous owner.
So all in all I think I can recommend Christopher Neil in Northwich. They have been very attentive to my phone calls and e-mails.
