I always take the car for a quick run after washing it. Bad luck mate, at least you are ok.

I keep reading about people using Europa Consultants or the like to handle these non-fault claims, are they any good?
In a word, yes yes

My Elise got rear ended 3wks ago. Initially I tried to sort it out myself but quickly lost patience with my insurance company. Enlisted the help of Europa (following several recommendations from friends on here) and it has been painless ever since. Took delivery of a S2 Elise S courtesy car this morning smile

Sorry to hear that Alex.

Sinclairs in Romford are highly recommended on here for servicing and also do bodywork AFAIK.

As for Europa, yes I hear good things, but at the same time - as the cost of the claim suddenly shoots up - the other parties insurer can/could start to get funny about it - as has happened to a couple of PHers (AB being one). I might be tempted to be as reasonable as possible (i.e. do you need another Sports car while it's in for repairs) - but then again you've paid for the car etc etc.

Tough one.

I presume the loan car has to be covered by your own policy? If so and if the premium increases for the loan car, who picks up the bill?
As above - they will rack up costs, then try to bill the other party Ins Co.

Like it or not, companies such as this (however useful they are to you at this time) are the reason our Insurance rates are shooting up - 20% increase on average this year I heard. Well, that along with dodgy whiplash claims.

Yes - in my experience the other side took it to court and while the accident was their fault I ended up getting grilled in the County Court by their barrister for the other side asking why the loan car was use for so long and whether I really needed one etc. We won but a big waste of my time and loss of earnings for a day in court that being awarded Costs don't really cover properly....

Thanks John, I'll give them a call on Monday. I saw the Elise S on their current fleet list, looks like I won't be getting that then!

No all the costs are being picked up the 3rd parties insurance. Its a complete non-fault claim.

This is not being registered as a claim on my insurance policy, so should not effect my premium. We'll see though. NCB is not effected at least.

Can't help with the repair Alex - but gutted for you and a shame to see it like that.

Thinking back to the last Lodge meet - I wonder if the rear lights are damaged and need replacing... with the facelifted LED ones...

Thanks for the heads-up aelord, I'll bear that in mind and pose the question to Europa about the likelihood of the 3rd party's insurer kicking up a fuss.
Yea just be careful I would say.

Sorry to hear about your accident. It is gutting. My Exige I crashed in the first day of snow pre xmas and the repair was only authorised yesterday due to the big backlog of claims they reckon..

What gets me is even with a "no fault" claim they still load your renewal premium, as if you somehow "attract" idiot other drivers..

Regrettably I suspect it will affect your premium, as they will say you are the type of driver who gets driven into, and they have the statistics to prove it. Sorry!

Can we knock this on the head once and for all.

There was a radio4 programme a month or back with the ABI on it. It turns out the insurance industry likes these companies as they take all the paper work off them and get the job sorted out so it ends up minimising our costs, so much so that the industry has now begun setting up it's own rolleyes

It should all go the third party, nothing should go through your own company, although they will need to know that you have had an accident so they can adjust your future premiums. However any increase in that can also be claimed from the third party.

Same thing happened to me - after spending ALL day polishing the car some cock wheelied his motorbike into the back of the lotus. Police stopped me ramming his lid up his arse. ...

I used Europa consultants - SUPERB!

Gutted for you. I'd use Anniesdad (Europa) to make the claim hurry along (as above, I actually think these companies do a better job than the insurers of getting the right result for all involved), but get Sinc's to do the repair.

Really sorry to hear that, it must be the shock of seeing the sun in the sky.

I'm one step ahead of you there and PM'd Anniesdad immediately and he's already replied.
Steve is a top chap and very helpful and honest. Where companies such as Europa come into ther own is when the 3rd parties insurers start playing silly boggers! I've used Steve 2 times now, one of which involved taking the AA to court for an outside UK incident, something my insurance company didn't want anything to do with. Another was when my wifes car was rear ended and given false details. Steve helped us track the correct owner down (who by now had changed her story) and get it all sorted with no fuss at all!

As for where to get it repaired, Hilton in B/Stortford are very good and do all of Castles bodywork.

I think the difficulty here is that if a person only has a 'need' for a sports car twice during the repair period, and that's likely to be at the weekend perhaps, is it reasonable to hire a car at £150 per day for the full 6 weeks?

The 'innocent party' is under obligation to mitigate their loss afterall, so perhaps it would be reasonable to hire from Fri-Mon for the weekends throughout the hire period? In this case it would be highly unlikely that any insurer would cut up rough.

Each credit hire company/insurer has it's own criteria - whilst some will write off any 'debt' not accepted by the responsible party's insurer, there are a few out there who will pursue their own client for the balance.

I'm sure though Anniesdad will brief the OP and help him make his own decision in his individual circumstances.
