Post this on the Le Mans thread under the Events section of the Gassing Station, you should get a good few replies there or you could just read up on some of the threads already started. IMO tickets (especially camping) can be a right pita to get hold of through the ACO but there are plenty of other organisations that may be able to help you out, just google it. I've been 4 times though not since 2001, each time before we just waited for tickets to come up on ebay. It's a pretty awesome weekend, but if you can go Wed to Mon or even Tue to Mon it's even better as you can catch all of the practise/qually sessions as well and relax Sunday night before leaving. If you can't make the 'regular' 24h try the Classic Le Mans the following month, probably a much more civlised way of doing Le Mans hehe and you get the most fantastic display of older generations of racing car.

You don't need to order general admission tickets in advance. Each of the four times I've been in the past eight years we've just bought them at the circuit on the Friday.
Campsite bookings aren't absolutely necessary either; there are plenty of places on the outside of the circuit where you can pitch, fee paying or otherwise

Been so long since I've been I forgot that we got the general admission tickets on the gate..... When you say 'outside of the circuit' do you mean one of the official sites literally just on the outside or do you mean further afield?

There's a small field / car park opposite the press centre where you can pitch a tent - free if no-ones looking ;-)
We've also camped in the airport. The petrol station at the entrance has a shower and hot food

I make up my mind if I am going on Thursday , travel on Friday sleep in the car when tired and generally wing it ! - buying an admission ticket at the gate

A bunch of us from here/LoT are going with Speedchills. I like secure camping, warm showers, clean bogs with bogroll, Satellite TV for the Canadian GP and England World Cup game, race coverage, a massive marquee in case it rains, bacon butties for brekkie, and cold fizzy lager on tap. thumbup

I am only passing through on Saturday to watch a days racing. Are the tickets sold for each day at the gate or do you have to pay for the whole weekend. Either way how much do you pay at the gate?

You talking about the Classic? One ticket covers the whole weekend (I think!) so it's no cheaper going just for one day. I pre ordered mine for the Classic a couple of years ago, if they're available on the gate then I'm guessing they'll be around the £20-£30 mark, have a look around or post this up on the Le Mans section.

Thanks for that CardShark. Yes I did mean the Classic and I tried the main thread and it looks more like £55 at the gate for the three days , with no single day tickets.

£55 for 3 days is still good value for money, but for only 1 day maybe not so. If you're able to stay late into the evening and get around to various parts of the circuit then IMO you should still try to do it, it's a fantastic opportunity to see some incredible machinery. I might be going again this year but still haven't made my mind up between that and the British GP.... and will now be dependant on ebay for tickets to the later...
