Can anybody please recommend an insurance company to go with for an Elise S2 111S 1800 160bhp the insurance quotes that I am getting are more expensive than the Ultima GTR which had a 5.7 450bhp engine, just doesnt add up, cheapest quote so far £420 fully comp, the Ult was £380. thanks.

I think "specialist" sports cars like the Ultima tend to be cheaper to insure than mainstreams ones like the Elise. If you join SELOC there's a list of insurance companies on the tech wiki, which might be worth a try.

I think £420 sounds good. Any lower and you will have to lie about your bible class!

£300 quid fully comp on a 111S with 6 trackdays included.

Give Chris a ring at CCI. PM me if you want a direct number.

Thing is, your ultima probably costs less to fix if you bend it than an Elise does, hence the cheaper quote.

Try Henderson Taylor. Got both my cars with them and they seem very competitve.

I pay £260 per year through Competition Car Insurance. That's as a second car, garaged, 3000 miles a year.

I've also been looking at Elise insurance and I'm finding around £300 more for a S2 than a S1 (this applies across the board, not just with one or two insurers).

Best quote on the S1 was £219 with £400 excess. The best S2 quote was £499 with £600 excess

Anyone else found this, or know why it would be the case??

"DoneDeal" via Confused.com. There were a number below £250 but since spotted the AA at £266 with only £100 excess and AA breakdown cover included, which doesn't seem a bad deal..
