Cross post from Seloc:

Mark up of £6k of S1 111S

I saw a nice looking S1 111S on Pistonheads a week or so ago, now my friend showed me the same car up forsale in France.

Here's the link in the Uk: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1718827.htm

Here it is in France: http://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/115604943.htm?ca=...

I have looked on the guy's website and they seem to sell!

the foreigners are finally getting hold of them because they have always wanted them but the brits bought everything norfolk churned out. given strengh of euro recently, they have been snapping them up. £11k isn't expensive for a 27k 111s these days, they are going up in value now. hooray

I sold my fairly tidy S1 111s with 34,000 mile on it, to these people a little under a year ago for £12,000 after advertising it on Pistonheads for just 2 days. The deal went through with no problems, a week later it was advertised for 19,800 euros and sold shortly after that, not bad. It was a yellow one as well so maybe one that "the jollyrodger" saw there. Nice to see that the Europeans are enjoying these cars as much as us. Good used car prices are a bonus for all Lotus, it makes it worth keeping them in good order. My sale allowed me to buy a Europa S, the Europeans have not caught on with these yet so the price was good and it is a fantastic car for the money.

They have been for many months now. The Elise used to be prohibitively expensive in the Euro-zone due to exchange rates. Now it's a bargain. Even the mark-ups vs. the £ price are a good deal for those guys. Good on them I say, they love their Lotus' so why shouldn't they get share in the fun. I've always had great responses from the French when driving Lotus in their country. I'm pleased they can now enjoy the marque without a ridiculous mark-up in price.

I'm thinking of selling my elise, I just don't drive it anymore, I've only drove it twice in 18 months, it's only got 4000 miles on it, so I'm wondering if I should sell it in France as my sister lives there, anybody got any views on this?

I would put it on Pistonheads first, for a very good price. It could sell saving you having to take it to France and letting your sister take care of the sale. They are not moving that fast in France now as there are at least 100 Elises forsale.
