'power boost valve'????

I bought one from elise parts. Essentially, this part by-passes the original fuel pressure valve and gives you the ability to control and adjust the fuel pressure as is passes into the injectors (for those of you whom weren't sure).
Has anyone out there fitted one?
are they easy to fit?
could i potentially f**k up the engine by fitting one?
do they actually make any difference to drivability/performance?
i am aware if there is any improvement in performance it is likely to be very very slight?!

Sweet!!! Thanks all for posting - i will place the said item neatly under the rear wheel and lovingly wheel spin it to oblivion.
Why would elise parts sell such an item if they are so utterly useless. Don't say 'just so muppets like me buy one'. seriously, i would think long and hard about spending money with elise parts again if they are just after a quick buck by shifting useless sh*t!!!!!!

Here is how the part is described on the website, no talk about how the unit will not work on a 'standard car' no mention that the car needs different mapping to achieve described benefits etc.it simply reads that if you fit one you will receive the advertised benefits - 'no if's, buts or maybes'.
As we are not all car geniuses, it is a fairly useless comment suggesting i should blame myself for not investigating further, i have seen a product, read the advertised benefits and made a buying decision based on that. Below is a exact copy of the wording that is on the website along side the 'power boost valve', read it then tell me i should blame myself!!!!!!
Power Boost Valve
HOW DOES THE POWER BOOST VALVE WORK?
The 'Power Boost Valve' is a pressure regulator, designed for use on 'electric fuel injection' engines as used on your Lotus. It has a special fuel enrichment facility for acceleration, commonly known as a 'Rising Fuel Rate' and simply replaces the original equipment valve fitted to your fuel rail.
Simply explained, the electric fuel pump supplies fuel at a high pressure to the fuel rail and injectors, which is then regulated by a fuel pressure control valve. This original regulator is not adjustable and is pre-set to a 3 bar maximum pressure. At idle, the fuel pressure valve reduces it by 0.5 bar approximately to 2.5 bar. When accelerating quickly from standstill the fuel pressure increases at a proportional rate retaining a lean fuel mixture strength as required by the E.E.C. for new vehicles.
However, the resultant effects of the standard valve produce these drawbacks:
Lethargic throttle response.
Occasional driveability problems at slow traffic speeds.
Intermediate performance 'flat spots' when accelerating.
By comparison our Power Boost Valve has an adjustable fuel pressure, effected by the movement of an adjustment screw on the crown of the unit.
Power Boost Valves are pre-set with a maximum fuel pressure of 2.5, 3.0 or 3.5 bar, depending on the vehicle engine tune in question and similarly (to the original valve) the fuel pressure is reduced by 0.5 bar approximately at idle. There the similarities end.
On acceleration from standstill the Power Boost Valve fuel pressure will increase at 1.7 times the standard rate so fuel pickup will also be 1.7 times faster than standard.
This will produce a healthy, strong fuel mixture strength which will instantly improve the driveability of your vehicle, providing:
Quicker throttle response.
Elimination of throttle hesitation and removal of performance flat spots.
Faster acceleration.
Extra engine performance.
The regulator enhances engine performance on acceleration by enriching the mixture strength. On constant throttle and cruise conditions the valve returns to a normal regulator function so you have normal fuel economy on light throttle and normal idle RPM is retained.
The Power Boost Valve is simple to install and basic fitting instructions are provided.
These units are mechanical and are considered maintenance free.
They are of some use if you are trying to improve power using MEMs ecu. Ie, flow the head and stick some cams in and try and do that with MEMs, you will probably find its running lean higher up the rev range. The power boost valve can be used to help this if you dont want to go down the Emerald route.

and just to clear up a point, i was not blaming elise parts - actually they have provided me with good service over the years, just suggesting that based on comments made by people on here the part in question, at that point, looked pretty useless!maybe a better explanation of engine pre-reqs would be a good thing to add to certain parts for sale!
