Indicating left, the flasher goes twice speed bing-bing-bing-bing-bing and obviously ain't right - I've double checked and the rear indicator isn't working.

The light clusters look a bit of a nightmare - however the cabling's all over the shop and shopping bags etc. could have dislodged something…

What's the possibility that it's just a simple cable unclip - or would you need a lot of force to break the indicator wiring?

If it's a blown bulb, how easy is it to do yourself, and would you expect a failure like this on a 7 month old car?

S2 Exige, bought in December, BTW.

double speed flashing means the flasher has less load on it, check all indicator bulbs including side repeaters. Cyber it's only a bulb they blow all the time !

Sounds like a bulb gone. I did a break light in halfords carpark in 5 mins without any knowledge so should be ok provided not one of the side ones.

Exactly the same problem with me, only it's the front o/s bulb...definitely not a 5 minute job in Halfords car park!
I've had the rear inboard cluster busted as well by a bag shifting around...expensive lesson learnt.

Remove the indicator(2x 8mm fixings and a multi-plug) and you will find that the indicator bulb(large 501) will have fallen out(still inside the unit mind!) due something hitting it from inside the boot.
Tighten up the terminals and re-fit the bulb.
Job done should take you less that 5 mins from start to finish.

No need to remove the whole lamp you can just twist the bulb holder and it pulls out. It really is a 10 second job.

How do you get the bulb out from inside the unit, without removing the light and fishing out the bulb which will be inside the unit.?..
Yes normally the bulb will be attached to the bulb holder but in this case it definately isn't, as the indicators are double flashing.

At the risk of sounding stupid...

Put your hand in the boot, grabs the bulb holder, twist anti-clockwise until it falls out. Replace the bulb and reverse the process.

Pretty much the same as any other car really.

Tony - sounds like the bulb has fallen out of the holder and is now loose and rattling around the lamp cluster itself, so when you twist and pull out the holder the bulb isn't in it.

Fiddly job then, maybe a magnetic screwdriver or big blob of blue tack would fish it out if you took the lamp housing off. The housings are bonded together so won't come apart.

I had this in my first months of ownership, solved using a screwdriver, chewing gum and some patience ....all part of the experience ! smile

similar thing happened to me with a reversing light bulb - it was bouncing around inside the lens.

be careful tightening the lens back on from the inside as when i went to remove mine i discovered that someone previously had over-tightened it and broken one of the mount points clean off.
