Sorry to ask, I know its been talked to death... the HG is going, majo in the header tank. Anyway having a local garage do it (based in Belgium) and he's happy I order in the parts, I think I'll use SJ Sports anyway .. what should I order ? it was first reg, dec 98:
HG kit, X10 stretch bolts, timing belt, auto tensioner, water pump, oil filter, maybe the under tray bolts as it hasnt been off for sever years...

Any thing else ?

Cheers
Matt

Are you sure its HGF?

Is it mayo (emulsified oil)or gunk in the header tank?

If you are using certain coolants they can cause a creamy gunk to accumulate in the header, your car may just need a flush through the coolant system.

If there is no mayo inside the oil filler cap or around the dipstick, and your temp is not fluctuating wildly then I would suggest you don't assume HGF.

Is Dec 98 auto tensioner. Wouldve thought it was a manual one but Im probably wrong.

when I did mine a changed the main engine mount as well as it appeared to be leaking.

Youll probably want your cylinder head ported along with some piper 633s, verniers, a flowed manifold and throttle body and a decent exhaust so you can hear it all.

In all seriousness, youve got all the bits you need there. Oh, probably best to change the alternator belt while its off.

Thanks guys, I'm guessing its HGF as the only symptoms is gunk in the header tank.. its never over heated. The brownish majo is only on the upper sides of the tank. Its been like this for 600 miles after driving it back from the UK. However since, I only drive short distances and its getting worse.

I want to avoid a full failure and being stranded with warped head….
Maybe first I have the garage check for gases…. But my luck with cars !!

cheers
