I am trying to decide (111s) between Ardent Red and Glazier Blue. The blue looks really nice but I feel that such a car deserves a more vibrant paint job. The problem is that I just can find anywhere (apart from the lotus brochure) any pictures of a S2 in Ardent Red. None of the dealers have and actual car in that colour. There seems to be very few about – Is this because the Ardent Red doesn’t look “that” good.

If anybody has any pictures / know of where there are that would be great.

Thanks

Try www.autorader.co.uk, if you register you get additional search functions. It's completely free and you'll find lots of cars with pics. You may find a car for sale nearby to go and have a look in the flesh.

A very useful site for reseach and the like.

Glacier is virtually indistiguishable(SP) from Ice Blue, so check the sports tourer of ours out in the Classifieds (Nick Whale)

I personally think the S2 looks great in both colours you mention.... Ardent Red is surprisingly the rare, (as are red cars in general, its just a fashion thing!) at the end of the day depends just how much you want to be noticed!

I think Ardent Red looks amazing on the S2, it's what I'd have if I was buying new!

(Bored of my silver car, wish I had a more vibrant colour)

Looks great

These cars aren't subtle, you're going to get noticed regardless, so why not do it properly?

I speak from experience. (I recommend stripes )

Go for it!

We had an Ardent Red 111S - may be viewed www.adrianblyth.com - unfortunately now sold.

I think you'll agree the colour does suit the car but most new owners chosing to opt for the additional cost of metallic overlooked a cracking colour IMHO.

Looks fantastic now... BUT... red paint always seems to fade worse than other shades and especially on plastic (anyone know why ?).

I know that from previous cars I've owned, especially my Mini, which was "Signal Red" and after a few years was a washed out orangy colour!

I've had the elise "supaguarded" as this is supposed to protect the paint from fade, and has a 10 year anti fade guarantee, or something like that!

It's also supposed to give added protection against stone chips, but judging by some parts of my car, that's a giant lie!

...

Well given you have an S1, I guess its clear you have no taste anyway

Calypso just looks wrong as the Elise doesn't have the presence of a Ferrari and it looks plasticy as a result in that colour. (for those that don't know calypso is as close as lotus could get to stealing the ferrari red).

Yup, mines is Ardent Red. I picked it when I bought the car new, having previously owned 2 metallic Elises. Looks absolutely superb. The £600 delaers ask for metallic is somewhat scandalous. It cannot possibly cost that extra for metallic paint.
Supaguard is a bit of a con IMHO. It does put a protective coat on the car, which is good if you're a lazy git and never clean your car for weeks on end. But, if you wash the car regularly (don't all Elise owners?) and wax it with quality products then Supaguard et al are a bit of a waste of money. It certainly doesn't give 100% protection against stonechips - nothing does.
