Fixings for mats

Hi - has anyone else had a problem with the fixings coming loose that hold the S2 mats in place?
They appear to be glued / bonded to the floor with some black, foul smelling gunk.
My driver's side ones have come loose and been re-fixed by the dealer twice in the last 3 weeks.
Has anyone used a good bonding agent? I don't want to keep having to go back to the dealer to get this niggling problem sorted.
I guess I could chuck the mats out in favour of a stripped-out look but I must confess I'm a bit sad and anal about things looking pristine and neat (you should see how clean my house is...)

Double sided carpet tape does the trick on mine and thats over the plastic tread plate stuff.
