I am 20 years old and have no no claims bonus and am looking into buying a Lotus elise M1, I have tried many insurance companies the majority of them wouldn't insure me however I have found one but quoted me £3000. Does anyone know of any insurance companies that may qive me a cheaper quote?

No no-claims and 20yrs Old, what did you expect?

Sounds quite good value if you ask me!

Only thing I can suggest is grab a copy of Evo and ring some of the high risk specialists, but dont expect any miracles.

Is the no no-claims as a result of a claim, or just not having had a previous policy?, either way any insurance company is gonna consider you a BIG risk

I've got no no claims due to the fact that I have been sponging off my dad's policy, have been driving for 3 years and not had any accidents or claims. Would it be alot cheaper waiting untill i'm 21?

It can only get better, you may find the fact your 21 opens up more insurance companies to you.

Unfortuately putting a policy in your dads name was false economy (as well as a little dodgy), as you would now have insurance about 40% or so cheaper which would make a big differance on the kind ofd premium your going to be paying.

Good afternoon party people in the place to be...ok i am 30-no no claims due to pnly driving sisters car on her insurance, then my girlfriends, then i got my mgbgt back from its full restoration which was insured on a no claims classic policy...which was £275 full comp etc etc.

So when i started on my elise mission i rang many places, dearest was £3k...cheapest i got was around £1k..not bad when you think about it!.

I then was informed to go on the footman james web site, they have a section which is done through club lotus www.clublotus.co.uk/ when i did this i was informed i needed to join the club £25 a year, the policy was a ltd mileage 5k for mealso they charged £5 to make it an agreed value policy.

So i filled the web page in, a few days later i got a reply and i was getting fed up of strupid insurance quotes, when i opened it up i was shocked £650!! fully comp-with no no claims and only the £30 extra mentioned above, i then had to bite the bullet and explain and accident i had and give them details of mods to my s1...and i was stunned, no extra charged!! £650....shocking!

Go there im happy as can be, now have my s1 and im luvin it!

Tesco's are probably the best for you as long as you are happy putting a tracker on the car. I have just insured a S1, nearly all the companies told me F@#k off until I was 25.
Went with admiral in the end & no tracker!
