Hi there,

I'm on the lookout for a used 111S and I've seen the occaisional ad for a Type 25 111S, but never seen one in the flesh. Do they exist - are they a cross between a 111S and a type 25 - or is it a cruel typo?

Thanks guys for any info,

Graham

They are indeed.

The original Type25 had the standard engine with special paint and interior. These cars had a numbered plaque on the dash and came with a few freebies (model car, print etc.) 50 original cars were built.

IIRC the 111S was an additional 25 cars with the VVC engine, not sure about numbered plaque or freebies however.

WendyG has one.

Happy Hunting.

Regards, Neil

I have one of the second 25 which are indeed the 111s VVC engine and are very similar spec. The only bits which don't come as standard are sun visors, drilled disks (they are ventilated though)and no radio (though speakers are fitted and I'm sure most will have slotted a radio in). The car does come with lovely red perforated leather seats and an embriodered Lotus logo on the head rests plus black wheels (the lighter 111s wheels, black rear diffuser, "heritage" plaque and of course the metalic paint job.

I think the second release of 25 sold out a couple of months ago (I bought number 24) and although Lotus originally said they might build 50 I think they decided to stop at 25 in the end.

Tortoise I was told today that they built about 30 VVC Type 25's so 25 is pretty close.

I have one of the original Type 25's no. 38 only one with a/c of the std ones.
