Do you think we could get them to replicate the Octane.ie forum structure inside the Ireland forum on Pistonheads?

If they could, that would be terrific.

I did this:

but we are asking everyone to go to http://fortyacresofyellow.freeforums.org/ for now.

Absolutely - PH is great - the layout is excellent, but joining the general community would disperse the Octane.ie community more than we're ready to do right now - many of us browse PH anyway, but we'd like to keep our community together for the moment anyway.
