Easy to make a S6 ECU diagnostic cable?

Hi, I run a 2003 Tuscan, and would like to use the diagnostic software that Evoollie etc. have developed. I don't particularly want to pay £40 from the tvr specialists for a cable, if I can make one for myself from Maplins or suchlike for much cheaper. Is there a guide to making these cables anywhere?
