WEll I had my 24K service and tappet adjustment at 22K 2 months ago 23100 miles and the engine has started clanking on tickover and throttle. Clack clack sound like one of those footie rattles.

No blue smoke no major oil usage no loss of power, although the oil temp has only reached 70C water 92C after a good run. I decided to coast it home as the noise happens under load rather like a knock knock.

No-one is open today so I will wait until Monday before calling TvR Craft but it does sound ominous. Oh and before any one asks I warm it up every drive. dont go over 3000 until I reach 65C with Oil... I anticipate a bill.... :(

Has anyone experienced any similar recently..

Nice I havent taken the car back to my indie yet. It drives fine however. I spoke to AutoCraft and explained the symptoms. Dave seems to think it sounds ominous. I'll get the definate word from my indie and then it is a trip to AutoCraft..

Mats - as yours, my engine did not exhibit any of the "standard" issues but simply started to "tick" rapidly and loudly from the near side back of the engine, most notably when it was fully warm and not just on start-up. It was clearly noticeable over and above that of the normal engine sound and was a constant, and fast, tick. Sorry not to be more specfic - should have recorded it!

I heard it initially very faintly on a Sunday, it had got louder 2 days later and then I took it immediately to a dealer where the diagnosis took place. Took my dealer about 5 seconds to diagnosis it without even seeing the engine.

That's it MB you dont always hear it on start up but as she gets warm there is a definate tick which matches revs as throttle is applied. It certainly sounds as if it is coming from the back of the engine. Where is yours being fixed, if it already hasn't..?

I'm going to take mine to AutoCraft for the Melling fix. Thing is I asked my indie how she was when she was serviced just over 1K ago and they said it was sound. Anyway not to worry I've got my fund set aside just a little frustrating..

Mats - has now been returned from the factory (still under warranty) so turned around in < 4 weeks which is a positive sign. Awaiting collection later this week so then the running in process starts. Looking forward to simply having my P&J back!

Good effort! Glad to hear that you will get yours back soon. Mine is not under warranty but I have a fund in place. I'm not going down the factory route but the Melling route. Hopefully that should ensure that the issue doesn't occur again. Good luck with the running in...
