Moving on from 1390T

I'm currently using a Garmin 1390T, which has been ok, but I have a few niggles and was wondering if anyone had a view on systems which might be a bit better with regard to route choice/route planning. I want to be able to review a chosen route or routes and pick the one I like or ideally even amend it up front.
