Driving and traveling - GPS ??

Hi All,

We have our family holiday coming up and am trying to figure out the cheapest way to have SATNAV whilst driving.

Using the mobile is going to be an expensive option as I believe it needs to be connected and the data used is going to be very expensive??

So can I use my exisiting tomtom 530 (purchased a couple of years back - top model back then). It does have a card slot......can I somehow convert this to work in Canada????

Other option is to hire SATNAV for 8 days whilst out there?!?

What mobile do you have?

Where are you going?

Without that info it's hard to find specific prices. Your cheapest option will probably be to buy a map for wherever you're going from Tomtom and load it onto the 530.

Or you could just buy a real map...

Try to hire or borrow one.....if you can't then CoPilot do Canada for their smartphone app all offline use....

Tomtom sell maps on SD card for the US and Canada to go in your tt530

Were off to the USA soon. Been searching the same thing, hire cars with hire sat nav ect. Depending on hw long your there for, may be cheaper to buy one out there. Not sure on Canada, but the price for a USA map from TOM TOM, you can buy a cheap sat nav over there. On the other hand, from living and driving all over the usa and Canada, just buy a Map. Roads in North America, are very easy to Navigate. Never used a sat nav in the 2 years I spent there working. Check the source website (like a Currys in Canada) TOM TOM XL over there only $99 Canadian http://www.thesource.ca/

I once hired one with a hire car. It was hopeless (old phone-based tech before smart phones). Last time I drove in the US I used my Tomtom 950 - fine. I would look for a refurb 940 or 950.
