buy one or two gps units ?

right thinking ahead i have a few holidays planned to the states in the next few years and the satnav we have at the moment is a bit crap as standard to be honest (it also runs another software but that crashes so not ideal)

so im wondering will i be better off buying a one stop show device that does uk and usa or one that does uk and get a separate one for the states as from what ive seen when looking its cheaper to buy your one satnav than rent it from car higher companies.

i dont want to spend a fortune so say £150 we have a navman s30 i think it is at the moment

ended up buying a tomtom go live 1005 its been great so far and the live traffic really seems to work. screens excellent and over all not a bad price got it was 299 in halfords but they matched their web price of 248 and chucked in the leather case and beanbag mount + £50 of free fuel so not too bad
