Satnav - Liverpool voice!!

Weird question but anyone know how i can upload a scouse womans voice to a sat nav, looking at getting a second hand unit next week and wondered if it was possible. Either TomTom or Garmin.

I've just had a right laugh :lol:

After doing a software update on my zumo 660 i had a look around and came across the 'voice studio' program which IS compatible with my sat-nav so i downloaded it for a look-see

What i found was a list of words and phrases commonly used by the 'british emily' when she is giving out directions but there is the ability to re-record each word/phrase with your own voice therefore replacing 'emily' with words of your own choice and in your own dialect.

I once heard a Tom-Tom spouting out Ozzy Osborne 'remarks' as they seem to have many celecrity voices available but Garmin's are few and far between.

Here's a few i did 'customise' to a 'Lanky spoken 'ere' type

Recalculating = Tha's gone wrong f@cking way

Traffic ahead = It's f@cking chocka up here

Continue on route = stay on this road fer a bit

Board Ferry = gerr on't boat

Enter roundabout = gerr on't roundabout

Make a U-turn = turn around you daft tw@t

Navigate off road = let's get dirty

Take slip road = Gerr on't slip road

Turn left = turn too't left

Turn right = turn too't reet

Proceed to highlighted route = make thi way too't highlighted route lad

Can't wait to try it out tomorrow, might even offer a Lanky spoken 'ere download to garmin


You could get her to record all the std phrases in her 'scouse' twang or do as i did and make up her own phrases, just be carefull if children or 'non-swearing' people are in or near the car. I found myself going the wrong way on purpose for the first few times out.

You can easily select the other voices once you get bored as they all stay loaded on the sat-nav, in my case i just saved this 'voice' as scotsy but can swop back to 'britsh emily' in seconds if i want to.

A mate in Yorkshire has plans to do an 'ey up' version soon

Now now chaps, at least a scouse-nav would tell you to calm down when it detected a session of road rage.
