CD Slot Mounts

Not sure if this is the best place to post this - Mods please move if you think this is better in Gadgets/General Gassing etc..

I'm needing something to mount my phone on in the MR2 to use hands free & Satnav. There's the usual windscreen suction jobbies, but there's a couple of these on fleabay which creates a mount by poking it into your CD player slot...

Now personally I'd avoid this as I don't want to risk damaging my CD head unit, but was wondering if anyone here had tried them? Are they safe to use?
