Tomtom charger not working in a new hire car?

Hi. I have a tomtom that is around 4 years old, i use it alot when i hire cars in Europe for work. Last couple of times ive hired a brand new car the charger doesnt work (a volvo and BMW 1 series), continues to work fine in my own car though.

Is this something to do with new cars having a different cigarette lighter socket which my charger isnt compatable with? Fits in OK .

Had the same issue. Mainly where the fag lighter adapter is just a touch too long and pops back out, but sometimes won't quite reach to make a connection.

I got round it my changing from a fixed fag lighter lead to a USB cable and bought a couple of cheap USB fag lighter adapters. Experimented with the one that worked the best.
