I don't know why they are so bad, but I agree.
I rented an E-class two weeks ago, and if I wasn't risking losing my deposit, I think I would have smashed it up. Infuriating.
Where does their logic come from? Don't they do any benchmarking of other products to see what's popular? Idiots.

I know some of the earlier ones were not very good, I sometimes drive a 2011 S350 and found the Sat nav very very good.

I had a CLS on rent last week and at least it knew what the M25 existed whereas my old 2008 Jaguar XF used to deny its existence until you actually put yourself on it.

Chich Merc sat nav do you refer? they have two versions currently a Becker based system and the full on COMAND system. I havent used the Becker one where it has a dock in the glove box but I'm on my second car with COMAND and find it to be a very good sat nav. the only thing that annoys me is it just re-routes you because of traffic, but my tomtom used to ask if i wanted to change route to make me aware.

COMAND here and it's excellent. Far superior to the Tom Tom I used to use.

Yep, command is excellent, if you don't want it to re-route you automatically turn off dynamic routing... I tend to find dynamic works well though.

Ive had COMAND in my last car, albeit an old incarnation. I've got the Becker in my new one and it's superb - voice activated (press button on steering wheel and say the address), knows about traffic and road works and does rerouting.

Got mine for £225 brand new off eBay from Germany which in anyone's book is a total bargain cool
