Ok, this isn't a first attempt.

So far I've done this:

1. Created a custom route on Google maps. This route doesn't exactly go "via" any places and is primarily to avoid busy roads and junctions, so it goes down specific roads rather than what it would calculate as optimum. It's a very cross country route.

2. I saved the URL link provided by Google and imported to Tyre. This mapped the route and created 48 waypoints.

3. I then uploaded it to my TomTom XL.

To use it I load an itinerary and follow the directions. I did this on Monday and it mostly worked (it did take me down a road I didn't plan, but it generally worked and got me to my destination).

Today I started in the same place, loaded the same itinerary and drove the same roads. After about 10 miles the SatNav started to ask me to turn around. I'm guessing it didn't recognise a waypoint as I drove past it.

Problem:

I could not get the nav to continue to navigate from where I currently was all it wanted to do was start at the beginning or continued to ask me to turn around and go the wrong way (no idea where it was actually trying to take me either).

Is there a solution to either this problem, or a better way of uploading a specific route onto a TomTom?

Thanks for your help.

Happy Jim

You're doing it correctly, but you are right about TT not registering a waypoint that you've passed. You can tap the last waypoint and set it to "visited" and then you'll be on your way again. Only way to avoid this is to zoom n as far as possible in Tyre and place the marker on the correct side of the road (yeah....bin there...done that :-().
