Becker 7945 Traffic Pro issues
Discussion
I've got a becker traffic pro in my car and even though I seem to be picking up the several satellites, but the unit doesn't register any vehicle movement. It clearly did when it was last used, which was London based. I've tried a full system reset and still can't get the sat nav to work. Anyone know of any similar issues and rectification methods? or can anyone advise of a repair centre in Glasgow (or anywhere for that matter?)

I don't have the instructions in front of me at the moment, but there is a way for you to go into the settings to see if the speed signal is registering. Becker units generally require the speed pulse to register with the unit before it can calculate proper GPS positioning, although it was a configurable option on your unit I believe. This would explain why you have GPS but no 'movment'. Since you have reset the unit, you will also need to do a 'calibration run'.
Also have a look on the 'GPS underground' forums, lots of useful stuff on there.

yeah thanks, I've managed to find and download the original installation instructions, but I agree, it does look like I need the calibration run with a speed sensor installed also. The car is a Mk1 golf and I think that I need to add a speed sensor unit. I've seen one that is an add in to the speedo cable, but I'm unsure where to get one.
i'm open to suggestion as I think I may need to get the unit checked out s I can't get it to recognise the MP3 files either.
Where can I get a speed sensor unit? I'm open to suggestion?
thanks

robmarrs, Bob certainly is my uncle!,
I've managed to track down the actual VDO speed sensor that I thought I needed, was just about to instruct my local mechanic to fit it (involving literally cutting the speedo cable, inserting the speed sensor then rejoining the cable back together!), but tonight I went out and tried the GAL setting, turned it to zero and within seconds the system found my position. Satnav works a treat!
I paid £126 for the VDO sensor, so if anyone wants it...
Thanks once again. Matter resolved. I can bin that dreaded window stuck system now! cheers
