Car speakers

With a budget of £50 ish.. any suggestion perhaps from this little lot?

Having just fixed there headlamp screw-up I'll probably agree. At least I whined enough to get a £30 gift voucher (hence looking at the speakers there). Took 5 visits to sort.

Depending on what VW, the speakers are actually pretty good.
Usually it's the factory HU which is the problem.

I have Hertz ESK163.L in mine. Sound sorted with a small sub, speakers are running from a Hertz amp also.
Bit out of your budget but you'll probably find fitting rubbish low end speakers gives worse quality.

As above the HU is the bottleneck normally. If you do want to upgrade the speakers then jbl ones were always the best allrounder imo

HU was swapped with a half decent Pioneer last year. Certainly noticed a difference then.

Definitely this. They managed to destroy most of the electrical systems in a Lexus a few years ago when I asked them to fit a new stereo. Took a lot of their money and an auto electrician's time to put everything right again.

Google tells me the car runs component speakers.
There are a pair of small grills located top corners of the dash.. assume these are for tweeters.
Knowing this, is it worth just replacing the larger doors units, or wouldnt there be much benefit?
Havent really got the ££ to have dash out installation.

Last few times I have been in halfords thought their HiFi systems sounded ste....... Usually Fli or Vibe or some other blingy crap blaring away with no audio quality of any description.

Speakers wise, without spending a fortune, I always found JBL to be pretty good really as were Infinity. So out of touch with this stuff now though....... Best speakers I ever had was years ago had a set of AR (Acoustic Research) 6.5" in my doors and 6 x 9" on the rear deck. Sounded sublime.

If you're running off standard head unit power speaker sensitivity should be your guiding factor. I'd look at some JL TR series speakers.

Rather a sweeping comment there. I know someone working for them at the moment while he finishes his third year, I hear more tales of muppet customers than anything else.

Gets the full reg number, enters it into their system, chooses a bulb, removes the old one, wrong bulb, goes for the right bulb, changes it, walks away only to hear a comment along the lines of 'fking dhead can't even get the right one.'

This comment was directed at someone who has changed engines,gearboxes,clutches,suspension,brakes on his own car to save money to put himself through his motorsport degree.

IMHO any grown man that has to go to Halfords to have a bulb changed should choose very carefully who he calls a dhead.
