Hi folks, I have a Clarion NX501e double din head unit in my beloved car. The sat nav programme keeps saying that Im in France ....how can I reconfigure it to pick up my location and recognise that in the UK ? I've faffed around endlessly but cant fathom it out .....any help appreciated .

Thanks Barry

Does it have maps for the UK installed ?

If it does, is the GPS antenna properly connected and located somewhere it can get clear "sight" of the sky ? (i.e. not blocked by bodywork or shielded glass). Use the "Where am I?" button to see if the GPS currently has a fix, or if it's reporting the last known position (and time since that was recorded).

If it's a recent installation, it may take it a few minutes or even hours to work out where it is now as it needs to see enough satellites to work it out.

OK - that suggests it's either having trouble getting a fix based on previous location, or the unit has lost old data, possibly through loss of power - new battery recently ?

Use the "Where am I" button to see if it really does know where it is now. If it doesn't, give it a few hours to work it out. If that still doesn't work, I'd suspect the antenna & connection to it first.

Funny, after about a 2 hour drive it eventually picked up the signal of where I was . I'd given up hope and suddenly after such a long time it pinged up with my location. I assume a connection issue with the unit / antenna / satellite etc ? Ill monitor it over the next few days and see how it performs.

Thanks again for your input

Barry

Hi, after a long weekend drive the sat nav eventually picked up a signal ....... and promptly lost it a minute later . The same thing happend another twice throughout the day . Basically scanning all the time except for the occasional glimmer of hope - to no avail . Thoroughly brassed off with it .

Searched on google for the fault and can't see anything also looked on eBay to try and buy a new external antenna - no luck in both counts .

Any input , thoughts or ideas appreciated .

Thanks Barry

There is an update available. It doesn't say what the update is for.

I had some dealings with Clarion Service 4-5 years ago on an OEM Sat Nav. Based in Swindon.
Very knowledgeable people. Might be able to offer some advice or parts/repair?
