After driving a god awful Astra on a lease for the last 18 months, I’ve found my inner balls and bought a proper car again, a 340i.

Now I’m paranoid about some low life coming to ruin my life, scarred by my FN2 Type R being stolen 10 years ago...

What’s the best Immobiliser to get? The Ghost systems look good. But that doesn’t stop a low life holding a steel bar at your head to put in the code. Is there anything out there that lets them drive off and then cuts out a few miles away so they have to abandon it? Clifford BlackJax 5 looks interesting, but not sure if it’s only useful for carjacking prevention?

I don't think you can get much more effective than a removable steering wheel.

While I had one fitted to my Elise Back in 2004, You are likely to struggle to get one for a modern BMW.

You could use something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-12V-Adjustable-0-60mi...

and wire it something like this

If they do get it a few hundred yards down the road chances are it'll be torched anyways. A couple of hidden switches to cut fuel and spark would be effective and a very loud exhaust will alert you of it attempting to start

Insure it and let them take it. Not worth the risk. Better still, put a tracker on it and let them take it.

Have a look at these guys.

I like that idea, nice, simple and straight-forward...

I find it ugly, difficult and crooked but it does the job
