Touchscreen double din head units?
Discussion
Anyone have any experience with something like this?
I’m wanting to replace an old head unit with something a bit more modern. I’d like DAB (this needs the adaptor/aerial), ability to play music via Bluetooth from my iPhone and use a SatNav or Google maps on the screen.

My friend bought an Eonon head unit for his B6 A4, similar thing set up to be plug-and-play with the factory wiring and have the right fascia shape.
It seems pretty good, though he had a couple of issues with it not being quite as plug-and-play as it should be and needing some messing about with supplementary wiring even though it's nominally specific to that model, and the fascia being a little tight a fit in the dash (his cupholder doesn't quite "pop" out as it should because there's some interference, for example).
As far as the actual hardware in the thing goes, it certainly seems to do what it says on the tin, and I'd imagine they're all much the same in that respect, so it'll probably work for you. Just be aware that ones sold with "it just slots straight in and integrates with the factory kit" may be anything from "pretty much true" to "blatant lies".

This sort of thing is interesting me too for my Megane but I'm guessing that the cheap unbranded ones are likely a bit crap and the branded ones like Alpine are bloody expensive.
Sony & JVC are becoming affordable (depending on what you class as "affordable"

Have an xtrons similar type thing in mrs hairys 330, is pretty buggy, insofar in if it were any worse it'd be in the bin. Aftersales nonexistent. Basically wouldn't buy anything like this again unless trusted brand or can demo it.
Hi. Don’t suppose you’d be able to add a little detail to the sorts of issues you’ve had?gmaz said:

Now thats not so bad. I have visions of these being the new thing for car thieves to break into cars for now looking at them.

Have had one of these in my mk5 golf gti for a few months now, hasn’t missed a beat and hooked it up to a reversing camera, haven’t missed the lack of cd as I’ve loaded most of the music onto a micro sd card. Apps can be downloaded from the google App Store so all good. Lots of others on there site for a little less.

Usb wires out the back dont work. Freezes occasionally needing reboot. Several other small but annoying stuff like refusal to remember correct time zone, generally feels "buggy" rather than a complete, ready for market product. Probably more I've forgot - its in the mrs car. Wouldnt buy again.I got one of the Xtrons double din andoid jobbies for my Mk7 Transit, mainly because it was apparently plug and play, it had DAB, Sat Nav, CD/DVD, Bluetooth, etc, and it looked quite similar to the factory head unit.
Only lasted a day before I sent it back, the only thing that worked relatively well was the bluetooth audio streaming.
FM radio would retune at random, the touch screen was really laggy, DAB would only pick up TalkSport, SatNav thought it was in Germany all the time and despite there being no reversing camera fitted, it turned everything off every time I reversed.
Trying to program the steering wheel controls was a pain too. You had to program one button, confirm it, then restart the whole thing before doing the next button...
Having said that, I might have just got a duff one, I know a few people who have them and have no issues, but I couldn't be bothered with it and sent it back.
