I have an after market sound system in my car. With an active subwoofer.

My car window was smashed but nothing stolen. I took out the stero head unit (the whole thing. Now when putting it back today, it doesn't work. All it says is amp error.

Not sure why it's doing this.

The unit looks fine, because when you disconnect the speakers it works. Once speakers are back in its ample error again.

My only thought is when the window was changed the speaker must of been damanged?

Many units have this feature to detect a problem, saving the output IC. So you have to inspect the wiring and speaker in that door. It will detect a short circuit across the +and - , but also between both to chassis, the negative is not chassis or in old money, earth.
