Pioneer problems with USB-C cable? & mirrorlink questions

I've had this in the camper all working fine with an iPhone.
Now going over to Android hoping to get Waze on screen but I get an error message saying incompatible USB, could it be that's it's a type C and to new for the unit to recognise?
I did a firmware update to the latest version.
Will mirrorlink work over Bluetooth?
The phone is a Huawei P10 plus

I have just fitted an SPH DAB230DB which is a slightly newer version of your unit. Used it with my iPhone - no problem.
Tried it with my wife's Samsung galaxy and i did have quite a few problems getting it running - first it needed updating to the latest 8.0 firmware.
Secondly, you need to check the USB mode you're in - I can't remember which one it needs, but you have to try flipping between MTP and MPP modes.
