Granada radio not playing ball
Discussion
So,
I bought a ‘93 Granada Scorpio about a month ago and it came with an aftermarket JVC radio (as well as the 2040 CD player it was optioned with from new). The new radio didn’t match the car and disrupted the lovely green glow across the dash at night.
So, I thought I would order an OEM Ford radio. Got my hands on a Ford 2006R RDS stereo/cassette player and it arrived a couple of days ago.
Connectors were just plug and play as far as I was concerned, but radio has been plugged in and… nothing. Not even the green button glow at night.
So, anyone have a guess of what could be wrong? The radio was advertised as working but from EBay so I’m not super confident. I’ve attached some pictures of radio, connectors and whatnot.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

That black tape look suspiciously aftermarket. Is there perhaps a wiring harness adapter tucked behind the dash? Could just be the power wires need swapping around.I bought a 93 Granada Scorpio about a month ago and it came with an aftermarket JVC radio (as well as the 2040 CD player it was optioned with from new). Multimeter onto the black then red (ignition switched, usually) and yellow (permanent, usually) live feeds. You can also check the illumination feed (orange).
As the old unit worked, it could be a wiring issue but it s more likely the 2006 isn t working. Check the 4A fuse on the back too.

The first photo is the plug for the speakers, so not going to stop the stereo switching on.
The 2nd photo seems to show the 12v switched and 12v permanent (red and yellow wire) the wrong way around. Although even then it would still switch on with the ignition on and that might just be Fords wiring colours. You need to get a multimeter in there and see what is going on.
Shouldn’t be too hard to work out. Is the a fuse on the back of the new radio?
